On August 4th, Governor Tate Reeves recommended to school districts to delay the start date for the 2020-2021 school year. Following that recommendation, the State Board of Education voted today to waive up to 10 school days during the 2020-2021 school year for school districts that delay their established and published start dates. This waiver applies to districts that plan to delay the established start of school for the 2020-2021 school year. In order to have access to this waiver, school districts are required to delay their current start date. As a result, DeSoto County Schools students will begin attending classes on Monday, August 17th.
