DETROIT – October 11, 2021 – At the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Detroit, Forbes announced from the stage the STOP Award: a new $1 million prize open to education innovators, providers and entrepreneurs who continued to support underserved families during COVID-19 and who seek to expand their work in the coming year.
Administered by the Center for Education Reform, the STOP Award is a $1 million prize to an individual or group who are providing an education experience that is Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding and Permissionless.
Forbes and CER together revealed the partnership and $1 million prize during an education-focused panel discussion and Under 30 pitch session at Forbes’ Under 30 Summit in Detroit, for which CER is a partner.
The pitch session involved three entrepreneurs sharing their ideas on stage and was critiqued by Randall Lane, Forbes Chief Content Officer & Editor, and Kirsten Green, Founder & Managing Partner, Forerunner Ventures. The panel discussion featured Randall and Caroline Allen, Director of the STOP Award.
“We are on the hunt for great, successful entrepreneurs and innovators who have been educating our kids during COVID, and didn’t skip a beat to give parents what they want and children what they need during the pandemic,” said CER’s Founder and CEO Jeanne Allen. “By tapping into Forbes’ Under 30 community, we expect to uncover more outstanding individuals worthy of this incredible prize.”

We know how important education is to underserved families, and we look forward to spotlighting some of the exceptional entrepreneurs and innovators striving to provide much-needed opportunities to disadvantaged students.”
The five STOP Award finalists will be invited to attend the 2022 30 Under 30 list launch party in NYC in December 2021. The winner will be presented with the award on January 18, 2022, during the annual 30 Under 30 gathering in Davos, a day hosted by Forbes in partnership with MIT, at the World Economic Forum summit.
As part of this partnership, STOP Award representatives will be contributing content to Forbes.com centered around education innovation and transformational education.
