Southside earned the fifth seed in the 1A state soccer playoffs, while Washington is the 14thseed in the 2A tournament.
Both will start at home Monday night as the Seahawks (13-4-1) entertain East Columbus (5-10). With a victory, Southside would host the Eno River Academy-Ocracoke winner in Thursday’s second round.
“We have worked hard all season and are really looking forward to the playoffs,” Seahawks coach Jay Petty said. “We’ve been consisted all season and will enjoy the home field advantage. We need to keep playing tight as a back line to continue our season.”
The Pam Pack (13-5-1) hosts Midway HS (10-8-1) from Newton Grove at 6 p.m.
A victory would put them against the North Carolina School of Science and Math-West Craven winner, probably on the road Thursday.
“I’m okay with our seed because all the conference champions are seeded ahead of the second-place teams regardless of how strong the conference is,” coach Jim Kozuch said. “I’m happy with the way we’ve played down the stretch and are glad to start at home. Hopefully, we can take care of business and keep playing.”
