Journey has canceled its 2020 tour plans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including an Aug. 21 concert at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa. The Pretenders had been set to join them at the show.
“There is no greater thrill for us than playing for our incredibly devoted audience, but their safety must come first,” the band said in a statement. “Having seen what the world has endured during the last 45 days, and not knowing what the rest of this year or 2021 will bring, we knew the right thing to do was to make sure our fans’ health was not put in jeopardy and to provide immediate access to refund options given the unexpected events caused by this terrible virus.”
It’s the third MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre concert to be canceled due to the coronavirus, following the Lumineers in May and Zac Brown Band in September. Other shows at the venue, including Thomas Rhett and Brooks and Dunn, have merely been postponed.
Because the Journey show was canceled, Live Nation will email ticket holders about their options, which include a full refund or a $150 credit for a future show, plus a donation of tickets to health care workers. Click here for details.
“We will see everyone again as soon as it is safe to tour,” Journey’s statement read, “and we will share that news as it becomes available.”
