COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two men were ultimately arrested on drug charges Thursday afternoon after they were initially pulled over for a traffic violation near US 31 and Lowell Road. The Columbus Police Department’s Intelligence-Led Policing Unit initiated the stop at 5:30 p.m.

A Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office K-9 supposedly alerted to the smell of drugs inside the car. Both the driver, Trevin Scott, 31, of Indianapolis, and his passenger Ricky Miller, 30, of Washington, Indiana were detained.

Inside the car, officers allegedly found drug paraphernalia, as well as methamphetamine and syringes. While searching the suspects, police say they located a small bag of heroin on Scott and a bag containing over 18 grams of methamphetamine on Miller.

Scott is facing preliminary charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a legend drug injection device. Miller was booked for possession of meth and possession of a legend drug injection device.
