A man was charged with felony drug possession and arrested for an outstanding warrant along with two other wanted people when the vehicle they were riding in was pulled over by New Kensington police for a burned-out license plate bulb.
Don Lamont Carter Jr., 26, of Broad Street in South Greensburg was charged with felony drug dealing after 29 grams of suspected crack cocaine was confiscated during the search of a passenger in the vehicle who said Carter asked her to “tuck it” or conceal the drugs, as the vehicle was being stopped, according to a criminal complaint on the case.
Police said Carter was wanted on a warrant by New Kensington police and that arrest warrants had been issued for two other people in the vehicle, the complaint said.
Also taken into custody was Ise Lamont Woods, 31, who was wanted by New Kensington police on criminal mischief and disorderly conduct charges filed on Jan. 5; a felony criminal trespass charge filed on Nov. 22; and simple assault charge filed on June 19, according to court records.
Police arrested Raphael Angel Geiger, 30, who was wanted for a parole violation following his release from the state prison in Huntingdon County, according to court records.
Geiger pleaded guilty on Oct. 23, 2019, to drug charges and giving authorities false information in connection with charges filed by Arnold police, court records show. He was sentenced to one year in prison.
Geiger also was ordered to stand trial for a July 2019 felony charge of fleeing from police as well as misdemeanor drug charges filed by Arnold police.
In addition, he is awaiting trial for an April 2018 felony burglary charge along with fleeing and drug counts filed by New Kensington police.
Woods is being detained in the Westmoreland County jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Geiger is in the jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
Police said Carter, Woods and Geiger were arrested after an officer pulled over a Chevy Trax that had a burned out license plate bulb while it was traveling along Bridge Street at around 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 27, according to the complaint.
Police took Geiger and Woods, who was driving the vehicle, into custody after confirming they were wanted on outstanding warrants, police said.
Carter also was arrested on a warrant out of New Kensington for retail theft charges filed on July 27, according to court records.
He was released from jail on his own recognisance and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on March 3 on the latest charge.
A woman who also was a passenger in the vehicle was asked by police to empty the hooded sweatshirt she was wearing, police said.
When she did, a bag with 29 grams of suspected crack cocaine fell onto the floorboard of the vehicle, the complaint said.
The woman also turned over a glass pipe with crack residue she was hiding in her bra as she was being taken into custody, according to the complaint.
When the woman spoke to officers at the police station, she said Carter gave her the bag of drugs when they were being stopped and asked her to hide it, the complaint said.
Carter, who had more than $200 on him when he was arrested, denied having any drugs, police said.
When police interviewed Woods, he told them Carter was the person who had the drugs when they were in the vehicle, according to the complaint.
