Gwyneth Paltrow was recently found not liable for the 2016 accident involving the Academy Award-winning actor and a retired optometrist. She was awarded $1 and the rest of us were awarded incredible memes.
From the courtroom saga that brought you “Well, I lost half a day of skiing” and more stealth wealth wardrobe inspiration than an episode of Succession, comes one final gift: a new internet boyfriend. Well, internet crush is probably more appropriate because Gwyneth Paltrow's hot lawyer James Egan is reportedly married. You can see the man in action here or watch this quick TikTok clip:
While Paltrow was wishing her accuser well, people online were continuing to thirst over Egan, who is a member of her legal team and a partner at Epperson & Owens. “Gwyneth's attorney James Egan? I think we should have that conversation,” Evan Ross Katz posted on Instagram on May 30, to which Katie Couric replied, “he's cute.”
Apparently, so many people were comparing the lawyer to Superman's alter-ego Clark Kent that Egan was even asked to address the phenomenon by Extra host Billy Bush. “I’ve heard that. It’s weird,” he responded. When asked where he was headed after the legal victory, Egan said he was off to see his one-year-old son. “He had his birthday during the trial and I haven't seen him.”
To be fair, the guy has a bit of a secret identity of his own if you count his albums on Spotify (which aren't actually very secret). “He's such a talented musician,” TikTok user Janie George, who claims to be Egan's sister, wrote in a post rounding up the best Internet reactions to her brother.
Personally, I feel the trial was over far too soon. Guess we'll just have to wait for Ryan Murphy's inevitable next season of American Crime Story. Do you think Henry Cavill would be down to play James Egan?
