Kickin’ It with Kiz: How to fix Rockies? Start by sending Nolan Arenado and Jeff Bridich packing. - The Denver Post

Didn’t franchise owner Dick Monfort say the Rockies were going to win 90-plus games? What does that translate to over a 60-game season? The Rockies stink. It’s a poorly constructed roster.

— Ron, doing the math

Kiz: Monfort predicted the Rockies would go 94-68 in 2020. According to the crack staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters, that would translate to a 35-25 record in this abbreviated season. After a stunning 11-3 start nobody saw coming, Colorado just as inexplicably morphed into the majors’ worst team. A major overhaul is needed. Let’s start here: This town isn’t big enough for both third baseman Nolan Arenado and general manager Jeff Bridich. Which one would you dump? I say send both of them packing. Let Arenado be the trade capital to begin a total rebuild of Colorado’s roster. But let’s find a new GM with a fresh vision to make that blockbuster deal.

What hypocrisy from Lakers superstar LeBron James! Does King James not see his own behavior is the same behavior that led our country to where we are today? Manipulate the referees and use your power to influence those who enforce the rules, all to serve your own greed. James complains about every call, gets whistled for a small fraction of the fouls he commits, yet acts like a victim. He’s a dang Karen.

— Brad, always plays fair

Kiz: The powerful do not want justice. The powerful want a ruling that favors the powerful. That is true in life. So why should it be any different in basketball? When James barks at the refs about a foul call, he’s seeking an edge, not fair treatment for all.

Dear NBA and KIng James: As you know, people love sports because there are certain rules that are equal for everyone. Good night and sleep peacefully.

— Ljiljana, Novi Sad, Serbia

Kiz: While we desperately want to believe the scoreboard makes sports a meritocracy, I tell often tell fans: Sports works exactly like the rest of life, the vast majority of the time. If all men who put on a basketball uniform were truly created equal, James would not be 6-foot-8 and a chiseled 250 pounds. Nobody promised us a fair shake. My 25-cent philosophy of life: Don’t idealize. Accept flaws as inevitable. Fight for what’s right. And never be cynical.

We have to keep living. The coronavirus isn’t going anywhere. We may or may not get a vaccine. Notre Dame postponing a football game is just perpetuating fear porn and virtue signaling.

— Greg, fearless

Kiz: So if I understand you correctly, sick football players should rub some dirt on it and get back in the huddle? Got it. COVID-19 isn’t serious until it’s your lungs.

And today’s parting shot suggests I should either start shaking orange-and-blue pom-poms or hop on the next train out of Denver.

Dude, you’re a clown. Please do us all a favor and go report on another NFL team. Nobody likes or respects you, Kiz. The fact you’re writing the Broncos should tank for Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence proves you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Shut your trap, loser!
