#NextLevelRams: Nine on Roster to Start NFL Season - CSURams.com

paksijenong.blogspot.com
The 2020 NFL season will kick off this weekend with eight #NextLevelRams active on opening rosters, a ninth on the practice squad.

Weston Richburg remains the elder statesman of the group, as the center enters his seventh professional season. However, he does so on the sidelines after sustaining a season-ending injury late in San Francisco's run to the Super Bowl in 2019. Shaquil Barrett – who had a breakout season for Tampa Bay last year -- and Ty Sambrailo, both enter season six.

Half of the group is wide receivers, led by Biletnikoff Award finalists Rashard Higgins and Michael Gallup, with Bisi Johnson and Preston Williams coming off fine rookie seasons.

Shaquil Barrett – The former Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year took a gamble on himself and took a 1-year contract with Tampa Bay, where he became a defensive force in his sixth season by registering 19.5 sacks to lead the league. He now enters season two with the Bucs (and seventh overall) after signing under the franchise tag at nearly $16 million this season.  Tampa Bay hits the road to face New Orleans (Sunday, 2:25 p.m.) for the season opener.

Ty Sambrailo – The offensive lineman enters his sixth season in the league, but will be in his first with the Tennessee Titans after spending the past three seasons in Atlanta. He appeared in 13 games in 2019, all as a reserve. Sambrailo will return to Colorado as the Titans face Denver on Monday night (8:20 p.m.)

Weston Richburg – His 2019 season ended early with torn patellar tendon in Week 14, an ailment which will keep him sidelined for the first six weeks as he has been place on the reserve/physically-unable-to-perform list. He is entering his seventh season, the third with the 49ers.  San Francisco opens at home against Arizona (2:25 p.m., Sunday).

Trent Sieg – The longsnapper makes the move with the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas this season, his third in the league. He has appeared in 31 career games, including all 16 a year ago. Las Vegas opens on the road at Carolina (Sunday, 11 a.m.)

Rashard Higgins – He enters his fifth season with Cleveland looking to bounce back after missing time due to injury in 2019. He did start one of 10 games played, but was limited to four catches for 55 yards after posting 39 for 572 and four touchdowns in 2018. The Browns face Baltimore on the road Sunday (11 a.m.)

Michael Gallup – The third-year pro will be looking to extend his upward trajectory after improving on his rookie numbers a season ago, when he started 12 of 14 games played. He doubled his receptions to 66 and reached his first 1,000-yard season, finishing with 1,107. He scored six touchdowns, giving him eight in his career. Gallup and the Cowboys will be featured in a prime-time game Sunday as they travel to the Los Angeles Rams (6:20 p.m.)

Bisi Johnson – He heads into his second season (both with Minnesota) after establishing himself as a reliable target for the Vikings as a rookie. He appeared in every game, starting six, completing his year with 31 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings open the season Sunday with an 11 a.m. game against division rival Green Bay.

Preston Williams – His rookie season was cut in half by an ACL injury, but he is expected to be ready for the season opener with New England (11 a.m. Sunday). He made an immediate impact for Miami, starting in seven of the eight games he played. He had 32 receptions for 428 yards at that point, including three touchdowns.

Josh Watson – The second-year pro was released at the end of camp but brought back by Denver as part of the practice squad. That's where he started his rookie season in 2019, but he was activated and played in eight games, posting a pair of solo tackles. Denver opens the year on Monday Night Football, hosting Tennessee (8:20 p.m.).
