JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead after four Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officers shot him during a traffic stop at San Juan and Cassat Avenue. The man was a passenger in a vehicle that officers pulled over around 10:40 Tuesday night, according to JSO.
A spokesperson for JSO said the passenger became agitated during the stop and officers attempted to deescalate the situation; However, a few minutes later, all four officers opened fire and killed the man, but the driver and a backseat passenger were not injured, according to police.

Police said a handgun was found on the passenger’s side of the car, but no further information about the shooting was released, including why the car was stopped in the first place.
Two of the officers involved in the shooting have been with the department for three years. The other two worked for JSO for 10 years and 25 years. The shooting was each of their first officer-involved shootings.
The officers were wearing body cameras and were not hurt.
