Police ultimately arrested three men on suspicion of crimes including firearm and ammunition possession by a felon, possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of identity theft materials after pulling over a car for a traffic violation along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers stopped the car shortly after noon on Colorado Boulevard at Parkwood Avenue, according to Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess.

The driver, who police recognized from previous encounters, as well as two passengers, refused to cooperate with police or exit the car, he said.

After about 20 minutes, the three men ultimately got out of the car and were detained, Burgess said. One of them discarded a loaded handgun onto the ground as he exited.

Police discovered one of the men had rented a nearby motel room, he added.

Investigators obtained warrants for the motel room, as well as the locked trunk of the suspects’ car, where they discovered ammunition, about 18 grams of methamphetamine, evidence of drug sales and materials related to identity theft, according to Burgess.

The driver, 40-year-old Michael  Lemar Jolley, was booked on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition and possession of identity theft materials, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records. His city of residence was unclear. He was released from custody later in the day pending legal proceedings after posting $50,000 bail.

Davion Laquan Ogletree, 29, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a felon. He was released from custody on a $35,000 bond.

Jermaine Lemar Smith, 40, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales, being a felon in possession of ammunition and possession of identity theft materials. Bail for Smith was set at $50,000 pending his initial court appearance.
