Fantasy football drafts are officially in the books. With real football games quickly approaching, the time has come to set lineups for Week 1 of the fantasy football season. It’s been a long road for us to get to this point, but it’s more than a sigh of relief that football has made its glorious return.

That being said, the focus now needs to shift to roster management. I'm here to be your guide through weekly sit/start questions across traditional 10- and 12-team leagues, along with deeper formats.

My goal will be to feature fringe, underrated or overrated players across all positions — evaluating players that have a 95% start percentage isn’t helpful.

So, without further ado, the inaugural 2020 PFF fantasy football start ‘em or sit ‘em.

Quarterbacks

Cam Newton, New England Patriots

Fantasy football doesn’t have to be hard. Newton’s ADP during drafts this season was QB13, so there’s a chance you might be debating him with another quarterback option. Let me be clear in saying you want to start Cam Newton in Week 1.

The Miami Dolphins’ defense is hardly one to fear. The last time Newton played a defense with Brian Flores on staff (Patriots Week 4 of the 2017 season), he went nuclear.

Newton scored 33 fantasy points, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 44 yards and another TD. The Dolphins allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2019 and were especially vulnerable to mobile quarterbacks, per usual for Bill Belichick disciples.

Quarterbacks with mobility, including Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen and Carson Wentz, averaged 27.6 fantasy points against the Dolphins in 2019. With the Patriots a touchdown favorite at home, lock Newton into your starting lineup.
