CLAY — Multiple units from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at BBQ Stop in Clay on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020.
The restaurant, located in the 6600 block of Old Springville Road was surrounded by crime scene tape as investigators worked.
The sheriff’s office is unable to give details on the investigation but they do say there is no threat to the public at this time.
Just before noon, the restaurant posted a message on social media stating that they and their employees were all safe.
“Many of you have driven by the restaurant this morning and witnessed the great amount of police cars,” the message stated. “We’ve gotten many messages and we thank you for your concern. All employees are safe and we will delay opening until 1 pm. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family who lost a loved one today.”
