KALAMAZOO, MI – Police arrested two suspects after recovering two handguns during a traffic stop Tuesday, Nov. 10.
A third occupant fled police.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Portage Street. Police targeted the area with “directed patrol” when officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
A passenger fled on foot. A search by a police tracking dog was unsuccessful because of thunderstorms.
The driver and other passenger, both 22-year-old Kalamazoo residents, had handguns, police said.
The suspects were jailed on weapons charges.
