You should wake up Sunday morning to the snow falling.
Unless you’re a super early riser — or had a very, very long night — it’s likely the latest winter storm already will have started as you go to brush your teeth, grab the newspaper or have that first cup of coffee.
The National Service predicts snowfall will begin at 3 a.m. in the southernmost parts of New Jersey, 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. as it works its way up to the center of the state and 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. as it reaches North Jersey.
It is expected to dump 4 to 7 inches along the Interstate 95 coordinator and comes on the heels of a superstorm this week that the state is still digging out of. Parts of New Jersey may be hit with as much as 8 inches of snow Sunday, and traveling conditions could be dangerous.
But by the time you sit down for Super Bowl kickoff, the storm should be winding down, even in the northern tier of the state, AccuWeather forecasts. Snow is expected to end by 7 p.m. in Newark and Paterson, and as early as 4 p.m. in Bridgeton in South Jersey.
The National Weather Service says that at the storm’s height, snowfall could exceed an inch an hour from late Sunday morning to early afternoon. Winter storm warnings have been issued for much of the state, with some stretching as late as 9 p.m.
