Eric Lochtefeld, 55, of 14072 Seminole Path, Lakeview, was charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance related to a traffic stop about 7:50 p.m. Saturday.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department on patrol in the area of Coon Drive and west Main Street stopped his vehicle for an obstructed license plate. Officers noticed Lochtefeld was nervous and learned he was driving with a suspended license.
His odd and nervous behavior and other criminal indicators lead officer to the request for a K9. A Waynesfield Police Department’s K9 responded and subsequently alerted on the vehicle. Officers located two items containing a black tar substance, as well as drug paraphernalia containing a white power substance.
The substances were field-tested, indicating the substance was methamphetamine. He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail. Washington Township Police Department officers also assisted at the scene.
