Spiked strips were deployed Sunday by local law enforcement in order to stop suspects attempting to flee a traffic stop that originated around 4 p.m. Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office had initiated a traffic stop of the white Buick sedan with three occupants inside the vehicle. The driver had been asked to exit the vehicle as deputies conducted the traffic stop, when the other two occupants inside the car drove off. Officers of the West Liberty Police Department assisted deputies in setting up the stop sticks, which caused the suspect’s fleeing vehicle to travel off the right side of the road, down the embankment, and come to rest near a field along southbound U.S. Route 68, just south of the West Liberty corporation limit. Crews from Macochee EMS responded and one occupant in the vehicle was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible, minor injuries. Another suspect was apprehended at the scene and lodged in the Logan County Jail. West Liberty Fire crews assisted for a time with traffic control in the area. No other injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene. (photo courtesy West Liberty Police Department)
