The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Sunday’s home game against the Boston Bruins at PPG Paints Arena.
Jarry’s status was announced by coach Mike Sullivan via video conference.
In 32 games this season, Jarry has a 20-8-3 record, a 2.79 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
Appearing in three games against the Bruins this season, Jarry has a 1-1-1 record, a 2.60 GAA and a .919 save percentage.
Notes:
• Sullivan did not offer specifics as to the status of forward Teddy Blueger and broadly termed his lineup — beyond Jarry — as a game-time decision.
Blueger appeared to be in discomfort during the final stages of Saturday’s 4-2 home win against the New Jersey Devils. At 17 minutes, 44 seconds of the third period, Blueger was hit by Devils forward Andreas Johnsson and appeared to be favoring his left arm afterward.
In 35 games this season, Blueger has 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists).
• Sullivan said injured forwards Frederick Gaudreau, Evgeni Malkin and Brandon Tanev skated Sunday morning with the team’s taxi squad.
Malkin and Tanev are on long-term injured reserve.
• Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy termed forward Patrice Bergeron as a “game-time decision.”
Bergeron, the Bruins’ captain, has missed one game because of a left foot injury. He is the Bruins’ second-leading scorer this season with 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) in 45 games.
• The Bruins are scheduled to start rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman. In six games this season, Swayman has a 6-1-0 record along with a 1.65 GAA, a .943 save percentage and one shutout.
Swayman, who never has played the Penguins, will be the fourth Bruins goaltender the Penguins have faced this season, joining Tuukka Rask, Jaroslav Halak and Daniel Vladar.
