A traffic stop on Saturday night led to the arrest of a man who allegedly had a gun.
According to Chico Police, at about 8:13 p.m. an officer on patrol in the area of East Avenue and Highway 99 stopped a vehicle for an alleged vehicle code violation.
Police allege that Ivan Rafael Gracian-Velazquez, 27, refused to identify himself and then gave a false name to the police officer who subsequently arrested him.
Police claim that after a search of the vehicle they found 12 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded, unregistered semi-automatic handgun.
Gracian-Velazquez was arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance, carrying a loaded firearm in public and providing a police officer with a false name. He was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and booked into Butte County Jail.
