The Independence Community School District will be delaying the start of the school year by a few days.
The School Board voted Monday night to start classes on August 26th – three days later than the originally scheduled date of August 23rd.
Superintendent Russ Reiter tells KMCH the delay is due to the district’s building project. Reiter says Larson Construction has met their substantial completion date of August 20th, but the delay is a combination of cleaning needs and preparing their offices for parents, students and staff members – so he says their hope of getting in early is not possible.
