WASHINGTON - GW volleyball will open its 2021 fall season this weekend with three matches as part of the DC Challenge.

On Friday, GW will visit Howard for a 6 p.m. start. The Buff and Blue will then head to American on Saturday with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.

GW will welcome fans to the Charles E. Smith Center on Sunday afternoon for a crosstown rival meeting vs. Georgetown at 1 p.m.

BOWMAN'S BACK: Defensive standout, Bella Bowman, returns after registering a team-high 159 digs in the shortened spring season. The veteran libero has tallied 1,045 digs during three seasons with the Buff and Blue and is on pace to break into the program's all-time top-10 this fall.

ON THE ATTACK: Paz Dozie-Nnamah hit her stride last season and will continue to be an offensive threat on GW's front line in 2021. Dozie-Nnamah finished her junior season with 70 kills in 39 sets across 10 matches. The outside hitter recorded a pair of double-doubles vs. Morgan State with 10 kills and 11 digs and La Salle with a career-high 19 kills and 13 digs.

A LOOK AT AMERICAN: The Eagles were picked to finish second in the Patriot League, and junior outside hitter, Zeynep Uzen, has been selected to the preseason All-League Team. Uzen returns after averaging 2.19 kills per set last season.
