WESTLAKE, Ohio –
Firearms: Sperry Boulevard
Officers at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 18 stopped a vehicle for traffic violations after it left the Super 8 motel on Sperry.
Officers discovered two loaded handguns in the vehicle along with suspected marijuana and a scale. Neither occupant was allowed to possess a firearm due to prior felony convictions.
A 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both listing Cleveland addresses, were arrested for weapons violations.
Evidence of improper handling of a firearm and having weapons under disability will be presented to a Cuyahoga County grand jury, which will decide whether to issue an indictment containing formal charges in Common Pleas Court, according to a police press release.
Felony warrants: Clemens Road
An officer on Oct. 15 noted that the registered owner of a vehicle leaving the DoubleTree hotel had multiple felony warrants entered for her arrest and was driving under suspension.
The Jeep Patriot was stopped on Crocker Road at Detroit Road. The officer arrested the 21-year-old driver from Cleveland, who was also the owner, on four warrants. She also was cited with driving under suspension.
Break-in suspects: Crocker Park
The Westlake Police Department at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 18 received a call from security at the Apple Store at Crocker Park indicating that a young male attempted to open the front doors to the store.
When security appeared, he pretended he was looking to “use the phone.”
Responding officers found a person entering a car at Crocker Park and stopped the car as it drove away. It was occupied by four people from Akron. They said they were visiting a friend at Crocker Park and were sent on their way.
However, their story did not check out. Coordination with other agencies linked the group to several business break-ins in other jurisdictions.
The young adults are expected to be charged in connection with those incidents, according to a Westlake Police Department press release.
