Two drug charges were filed against a man stopped for driving a vehicle with an expired registration early Saturday on North Cannon Boulevard.
Officer Dylan Bliss said in his report he spotted a bag containing crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle’s floorboard.
A “large amount” of small plastic bags, some allegedly with meth residue, and a Suboxone pill were confiscated from Triston Cole Thibault, 24, of Shelbyville. A syringe containing liquid meth was allegedly found in a door. Thibault told officers he was “feeling the effects” of taking meth.
He was charged with DUI (second offense), driving on revoked license (second offense), possession of schedule II and III drugs and paraphernalia, financial responsibility and registration violations. He was being held on $11,500 bond Monday.
- The driver of a vehicle stopped for having a headlight out was charged with simple possession when marijuana was found in his vehicle Friday night on North Main Street, Shelbyville police said. Coby Davis was cited after Officer Bailey Dineen confiscated a bag of marijuana and a blunt, according to a report.
- Approximately 2 grams of marijuana was found on ZoeCarballosoduring a traffic stop for speeding Saturday on Green Lane. She was cited for both offenses, police said.
Gun charge
Discovery of a Taurus .380 handgun led to a DUI suspect also being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm Friday night.
Alex Jordan Harris, 25, of Old Pencil Mill Road was initially stopped after being clocked at 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on North Main Street.
Harris failed field sobriety tests and later tested .159 and .161 on an intoximeter, police said. The gun was found in the vehicle’s center console.
Records show Harris posted $4,500 bond.
Purse stolen
A man riding a power cart allegedly stole a purse left inside a cart at Food Lion, Colloredo Boulevard, at midday Saturday.
Thomas Keith Cook, 44, of Tate Avenue was seen on video footage, police said. Officers found Cook at a Tate Avenue home, where he said he took $24 and left the purse by the roadside.
Police said they found $150 of $200 missing from the purse on Cook, who was charged with theft of property and released on $1,000 bond.
Test resisted
A domestic violence suspect who allegedly fought off attempts to obtain a blood draw Saturday was charged with resisting stop/ frisk/halt/search efforts.
Harold Gene Edwards Jr., 34, of South Fairoak Street was placed on a restraint chair at Bedford County Jail and began shaking his arm to prevent the draw, police said.
An emergency medical worker abandoned further efforts after Edwards allegedly broke a glass vial on the second attempt. Edwards was also charged with domestic assault, DUI (second offense), driving on a revoked license (second offense) and refusal to take a drug test.
He was held on $8,000 bond.
Cow shot
A cow was shot to death Thursday or Friday at a farm on Substation Road in Unionville.
A deputy noted one gunshot wound to its neck. No suspects were named.
