Aaron Rodgers' absence from the Green Bay Packers looks like it is only going to last one week. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Rodgers is back in the building at Lambeau Field, set to be activated off the reserve/COVID list, and will start in Green Bay's Week 10 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Of course, Rodgers missed last week's matchup against Kansas City after testing positive for COVID-19. Because he's not vaccinated, there was some question as to whether or not he'd be able to play in this upcoming game with Seattle due to the mandatory 10-day absence for unvaccinated players if they test positive. Pelissero adds that Rodgers needs to continue to show no symptoms and also needs to pass a cardiac screening after showing moderate symptoms initially, but that has been something he's been working through during the week. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers has remained asymptomatic and has met the NFL/NFLPA's return-to-play protocols, so all signs do point to him starting Sunday.
Rodgers' unvaccinated status was under scrutiny after he tested positive due to the quarterback skirting some of the league protocols. In fact, the Packers were fined $300,000 for violations of those protocols and Rodgers, along with wide receiver Allen Lazard, were also fined $14,650 each.
As he sat on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Rodgers, of course, could not be in the building with his team but was able to virtually participate in meetings throughout the week, per Pelissero. He is also expected to be at team meetings and the walkthrough Saturday.
With Rodgers sidelined for Week 9, Jordan Love made his first start in the NFL since the Packers selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In that 13-7 loss to Kansas City, Love completed 19 of his 34 passes for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also rushed five times for 23 yards.
