Prestianne Scores Career-High 17 Points; Rose Nets Double-Double in Collegiate Debut
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College outscored visiting Notre Dame (Md.) 65-34 in the final three quarters to overcome an 11-point deficit at the end of the first quarter to net a 71-51 season-opening win on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gym. It was the season opener for both the Shorewomen and Gators.

How It Happened
- The Gators came out strong with a 16-4 game-opening run that was capped by two free throws by Ayana Brim with 1:28 left in the first quarter. Notre Dame (Md.) led 17-6 after one.
- Washington would score 17 of the first 22 points in the second quarter to take its first lead of the game with 2:08 left in the second on a jumper by Crystal Jones. The two teams would be tied at halftime, 26-26.
- Tied at 29-29 with 8:51 to go in the third quarter, Kaleigh White put the Shorewomen ahead for good with two free throws to put the hosts ahead 31-29. WC would push its lead to as many as 10 at 47-37 with 36 ticks left in the third on a White layup and took a 47-40 advantage heading into the fourth.
- In the fourth quarter, Washington scored the first nine points to take a 56-40 with 6:41 to go on a Serena Pluta lay-in. The Shorewomen's lead the rest of the game fluctuated between 12 and 22 points as they came away with a 20-point win.

- Andrea Prestianne (career-high and team-best 17 points), Kiersten Rose (game-best 15 rebounds and 11 points for double-double in collegiate debut), White (11 points), Lizzie Hudock (three steals), Madeline Williams (contest-best seven assists)
- WC shot 41% from the floor (29-for-71), 21% from three-point range (3-for-14) and 77% (10-for-13) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 55-24 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 20 times, while forcing 21 turnovers by the Gators.
- WC outscored Notre Dame in points in the paint, 34-22, points off turnovers, 23-12, second-chance points, 16-3, and bench points, 30-0.
For Notre Dame (Md.) (0-1)
- Brim (game-best 18 points), Daija Fitchett (team-topping nine rebounds and game-high three blocks), Alexis Durham (11 points), Amya Durham (10 points, six assists and three steals)
- The Gators shot 37% from the floor (18-for-49), 31% from three-point land (4-for-13) and 52% from the foul stripe (11-for-14).
- Notre Dame scored six of the eight transition points in the game.
Notes
- Rose is the first Washington player to pull down 15 rebounds since Emily Thiemann '19 had 15 against Swarthmore on November 20, 2018. She is the first Shorewoman to notch a double-double since Cassidy Quattro '20 had 12 points and 11 boards at Johns Hopkins on February 4, 2020.
- Washington has won eight of the 10 all-time meetings.
