It's championship fight night on Saturday in Las Vegas as Terence Crawford puts his WBO welterweight championship on the line against two-time former welterweight champion Shawn Porter. The title bout between Crawford and Porter headlines a card from Mandalay Bay Arena that will air live on pay-per-view.
Crawford has held his belt since the summer of 2018, further establishing his reputation as one of boxing's pound-for-pound elite. His level of competition hasn't been up to his talents, however, as he's been locked out of fights with the top welterweights in the sport due to his affiliation with Top Rank while the other top-end welterweight fighters are promoted by Premier Boxing Champions.
Porter is one of those PBC fighters and the deal was finally struck to set up by far the toughest fight of Crawford's reign as welterweight champion. Twice a world champion at the weight, Porter's most recent reign came to an end by split decision in a wild fight with Errol Spence Jr., who now holds the other three recognized world titles at the weight. Porter's all-action style and Crawford's brilliant and brutal attack could make for a fun night in the ring on Saturday.
