Alton, Iowa — A traffic stop near Alton late last week resulted in felony drug charges against a Minnesota man.
According to court records, an Iowa State Trooper stopped a car driven by Abadir Mohamed Daoued, of Farmington, Minnesota, on Highway 60 near Alton. Authorities say Daoued was allegedly discovered to be driving without a valid license. Troopers say he was also discovered to have in his possession a plastic bag containing approximately 2.5 grams of a white crystalline substance that allegedly field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Court records indicate that a search of the car led to the discovery of a grocery bag in the car’s trunk that allegedly contained 56.8 grams of marijuana.
Daoued was charged with Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a Class D Felony, as well as Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana, both Serious Misdemeanors. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Sioux County Jail.
He is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing in the case at 9:30 am on November 9th in Sioux County Magistrate Court, according to online court records.
