Kitty Plank

Abyssinian

Passed away on October 29, 2018

Kitty was born in California and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Concord until she moved to Hudson, Ohio, in 2005.

After a long and scary plane ride, she quickly adapted from her previous carefree, yet dangerous, outdoor lifestyle to that of a somewhat pampered indoor existence. She became accustomed to roaming her new two-story home and lounging on any chair or bed she chose.

Being a California girl she thrived in hot temperatures and particularly enjoyed lazing on the outdoor furniture on the screened-in porch – especially on the warmest of days. When inside on sunny days she sought any patch of sunlight in which to sprawl.

She maintained a rigorous regular routine that required periodic “rubs” and regular playtime. She also was persistent in having her food dish filled sufficiently and at the right times. She loved massaging her scratch pole and playing with her catnip toys, alternating between the mouse and the banana. An Abyssinian, she was a natural athlete and loved to jump to high places (including the occasional shoulder) and run the stairs. But when tired, she was quite satisfied curling up on a lap.

Kitty was in good health until a blood pressure issue brought on blindness which she endured for the final three years of her life. Although her lifestyle was modified, she never let this affliction affect her ability to enjoy moving around the house or continuing her daily routine. She became adept at negotiating her way around and was able to sustain her quality of life.

Despite her blindness, she maintained a lively existence until her illness became too much to overcome and she died in 2018. Now, in heaven, we expect she is lazing in the sun while enjoying periodic episodes of joyful playtime.

Her intelligent, energetic, playful and loving demeanor is greatly missed and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Dennis and Jane Plank,

Hudson
