Stop the Bleed Month is dedicated to educating community members on the basic skills necessary to control bleeding from accidents and injuries.
EMS training in bleeding control must incorporate mass casualty incident plans and drills as well as the need to prioritize patient triage by injury severity, transport priority and the type of treatment – layperson or medical professional – that is required.
In this EMS1 webinar, sponsored by Rescue Essentials, David K. Tan, MD, EMT-T, FAEMS; and Chief Rob Wylie will discuss trauma triage, wound assessment and bleeding control strategies, including the use of trauma kits, wound packing materials and tourniquets.
