Delaware State Police have arrested 37-year-old Brandon Coleman of Ashland, VA, 38-year-old James Phillips of Petersburg, VA, and 34-year-old Darius Henry of Far Rockaway, NY for felony drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred in the Newark area on Saturday morning.
On July 2, 2022, at approximately 8:59 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a Kia Sportage traveling southbound on Interstate 95 at the service area at a high rate of speed. The trooper caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area Route 896. Contact was made contact with the operator, identified as Brandon Coleman and two occupants identified as James Phillips and Darius Henry. A Delaware State Police K9, responded to the location and scanned the vehicle for illegal substances. After a positive indication by the stat police K-9, troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 6 ecstasy pills, approximately 50.94 grams of marijuana, approximately 281.75 grams cocaine, and over $7,900 of suspected drug proceeds.
The suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 6 and charged with the following crimes:
Brandon Coleman
- Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Numerous traffic offenses
Coleman was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and released on $41,600 unsecured bond.
James Phillips
- Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- 2 counts
Phillips was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $43,500 secured bond.
Darius Henry
- Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- 2 counts
Henry was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,550 secured bond.
