Jasin P. Rorabough, 28, of 3978 County Road 21, DeGraff, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful carry of a firearm in a motor vehicle related to a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 2:30 a.m. to a report of a reckless driver in the area of U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 94, with witnesses stating the driver was driving in the grass and “doing burn-outs.”
Upon arrival in the area, deputies observed a vehicle in the grass off of U.S. 33 and attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, deputies said the vehicle drove onto T.R. 94 and continued to Indian Drive before stopping.
Deputies said the driver, Rorabough, immediately exited his vehicle after stopping and he was ordered to get back inside his vehicle several times.
While speaking with the driver, deputies noticed that he displayed signs of impairment. They also reportedly noticed an open case of alcoholic beverages in his back seat.
The defendant submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. During a search of his vehicle, deputies located a loaded .22-caliber revolver in the passenger seat, which had been covered with papers.
When questioned about the firearm by deputies, the defendant said he knew it was there and that he was going to return it to a family member that evening. Dispatchers confirmed that Rorabough did not have a concealed carry permit.
At the Logan County Jail, he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.179 blood alcohol content.
