The Carrboro Police Department arrested one man on Monday in connection to a road rage shooting from last month.
According to police reports, 40-year-old Gregory Elijah Wilson Sr. faces several charges, including three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging firearm into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon, stemming from an incident in July. The filed report says Wilson was part of a felony traffic stop near 402 West Weaver Street Monday afternoon, which led to the arrest of both the driver and passenger.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Jones Ferry Road and Davie Road on the evening of July 18, according to Carrboro Police. The initial investigation concluded two people got into an argument that escalated to where a gun was fired from one vehicle into the other. Police said the suspect then drove away, with the victim staying behind and being left uninjured.
Wilson, who is listed as a Pittsboro resident, was reported as unarmed during Monday’s traffic stop. Carrboro Police said he is being held under a secured $25,000 bond at the Orange County Detention Center. His first appearance in court on the charges was Tuesday at 2 p.m.
In a release shared to social media, the Carrboro Police Department said the Durham Police Department and Chatham County Sheriff’s Office assisted in its investigation.
