SANDUSKY, Ohio — U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg plans to make a stop in Sandusky on Thursday to highlight projects associated with President Joe Biden's Building a Better America Tour.

Buttigieg will address upgrades to the U.S. 6 corridor, a route that assists drivers to get to Cedar Point. The Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity program made a $24.5 million grant available to assist with the upgrades, according to the White House.

The stop is in conjunction with visits to five other states: Florida, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire and Oklahoma.

Ohio received a total of $52.9 million to support four projects in Ohio from the RAISE program to help move forward on projects that modernize roads, bridges, transit, rail, ports and intermodal transportation.

“We are proud to support so many outstanding infrastructure projects in communities large and small, modernizing America’s transportation systems to make them safer, more affordable, more accessible, and more sustainable,” said Buttigieg in a press release from Aug. 11. “Using funds from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this year we are supporting more projects than ever before.”

More details, including timing and exact location, will be announced in the coming days, according to Buttigieg's office.
