After seeing training camp standouts James Proche and Isaiah Likely in person, color me impressed. Proche’s leadership is apparent in both positional and team drills, and he backs it up with stellar play against longtime starters like Marlon Humphrey and Chuck Clark.
Regarding Isaiah Likely:
Can’t help but think the Steelers leap-frogging the Ravens in the fourth round to take wide receiver Calvin Austin might be a blessing for Baltimore. As Peter King wrote, it was OC Greg Roman who liked him and is part of why he’s a Raven now. pic.twitter.com/VEczWsoEBP— Kyle Phoenix Barber (@KylePBarber) August 4, 2022
Likely is as advertised: a presence on every play who shines on contested catches in the red zone. Lamar Jackson is clearly developing a rapport with him, as well as Proche, and his connection with a noticeably ripped Mark Andrews is as sharp as ever as well.

Ja’Wuan James definitely won quote of the day with this gem…
Ravens OT Ja’Wuan James on an eventful, frustrating past few years: “It’s been a journey, but we’re here right now.”

…which of course got a ridiculous response from Marlon Humphrey.

Look, Marlon, I don’t think any of us really wanted to know that.
In a now deleted Tweet, his new secondary mate was all of us:
Speaking of Marlon & rookies, the latter had an interesting observation about the 2022 rookies.
This the most interesting rookie class ever

That’s true for a lot of reasons in Baltimore alone. Part of it is the whopping 11 draft picks, plus an excellent crop of undrafted free agents. We also had a rare rookie holdout, though David Ojabo’s contract situation was eventually settled.
The terms of David Ojabo's contract are pretty standard, so the injury (while hurting his draft stock) didn't affect his contract. His 1st 2 yrs are fully gtd & $700K of his 2024 salary of $1,424,012 is fully gtd. 3rd yr g'tee % falls pretty much in line w/ picks above him. https://t.co/z4LVOa54H0

For the second year in a row, the Ravens had two first-round picks. Though some doubt has been cast on Kyle Hamilton, he responded with a solid if unspectacular practice on Thursday.

Tyler Linderbaum gave fans a scare when he limped into the locker room during the first half of practice, but John Harbaugh clarified that he’ll be fine. Linderbaum also earned praise from Morgan Moses for battling against the Ravens’ beefy defensive tackles.

Considering that Trevor Penning was a rumored Ravens pick at 14, and was even taken before Linderbaum on draft night, I definitely think Baltimore made the right decision.
