CADIZ — A Litchfield man was arrested Tuesday morning on multiple drug charges after a brief pursuit by law enforcement.
James Hicks, 29, of 4355 Vandemark Rd., Litchfield was taken to the Harrison County Jail on various charges including possession of methamphetamine and drug instruments.
Harrison County Sheriff Joe Myers said deputies observed a vehicle traveling eastbound at a low rate of speed on U.S. 250 in Cadiz. After observing numerous “criminal indicators,” deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over. However, the driver failed to stop and continued along from Dennison Ave. through Holmes Ave. and down to Country Club Road in Cadiz where the vehicle eventually came to a rest in a ditch.
After the stop was made, a search of the vehicle was conducted where deputies allegedly discovered approximately 26 grams of marijuana, 49 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia including a hypodermic needle. Myers said the driver allegedly later identified the suspected narcotics as methamphetamine.
Hicks was arraigned Tuesday in Harrison County Court and is being held on a $75,000 bond.
