The team's round of 325 is four strokes better than the previous program record of 329, set at St. Lawrence on September 9, 2018. The Dutchwomen sit in fourth place out of six teams after day one, behind New York University (282), SUNY Cortland (311) and Ithaca College (321).
Three Dutchwomen sit in the top-15 at the midway point of the weekend. Buckley led the way with a career-best round of seven-over 79, tying her for fifth on the school single-round scoring list and sitting one stroke back of the program record of 78 achieved on four occasions. First-year Elizabeth Bentsianov had an impressive debut for Union, carding a round of 80 that is tied for 10th all-time for single-round scoring.
Senior Ashley Harding also hit the ball well on Saturday, carding a round of 81 that was good enough for 14th place after day one. Junior Alexandra Cymbal rounded out Union's four scorers with an 85, while classmate Avery Clavel finished with a 91 to complete the Dutchwomen quintet.
Three other Union first-years made their collegiate debuts as well on Saturday, with Elle Lagor (86), Genevieve Oakes (90) and Katerina Dimacopoulos (101) playing as individuals.
Union will be back on the course tomorrow morning looking to finish strong on day two of the St. Lawrence Invitational.
