SCHEDULE

MOREHEAD, Ky. –

It is the dawn of a new era for Morehead State women's basketball, as the new-look Eagles prepare for an exciting 2021-22 schedule.

Tip-off times and ticket information will be available soon.

The Eagles, who finished last season 7-16, welcome in Cayla Petree as the 11th head coach in program history. Petree comes to the Eagles after successful stints at Gulf Coast State College (Panama City, Fla.) and South Plains College (Levelland, Tx.), and is looking to translate that success at Morehead State, beginning with a difficult non-conference slate.

"Playing power five teams like Michigan State and Baylor is huge for our program all the way around. We will grow on the court, but also it helps us in recruiting. Competitors want to play the best, at the highest level, so this allows them that chance. Sure, it will be tough, we will be better because of it, and it will show in February," Petree added.

The Eagles will look different on the court as well, with only three returners from last year's squad: redshirt juniors Lauren Carter and Freddy Adams and graduate student Tyler Moore. Thirteen newcomers including transfers Paris Williams and Terri Smith, and freshman Morgan Browning will join them.

The Eagles' non-conference slate features a variety of power five and mid-major opponents, while the OVC slate features a double round robin versus all nine current teams.

"We are excited to play a very challenging non-conference schedule to prepare us for OVC play," said Petree.

MSU's non-conference road games include contests at Michigan State (Nov. 9), Marshall (Nov. 19), Robert Morris (Nov. 24), Bellarmine (Nov. 27), Baylor (Nov. 30), and Evansville (Dec. 11).

Home non-conference challengers include Midway (Nov. 21), Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 15), which features the return of former head coach Greg Todd, USC Upstate (Dec. 18), and Valparaiso (Dec. 19). The Eagles have a home exhibition game versus Georgetown (Ky.) set for Nov. 4.

The Eagles open OVC action with a pair of games Dec. 29 against Eastern Illinois and Jan. 1 against Tennessee State. Another notable home game is senior day versus Southeast Missouri (Feb. 19).
