NBA: Wizards’ Hachimura to miss start of training camp - Bullets Forever

paksijenong.blogspot.com

On Saturday, the Washington Wizards announced that Rui Hachimura will miss the start of training camp due to personal reasons. The news was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Overall, this is bad news. The Wizards are starting training camp next Tuesday and want to get the ball rolling quickly. It’s Wes Unseld Jr.’s first season coaching the team. There are many new additions to Washington like Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and others.

Over the past couple weeks while I’ve been out on vacation (I still am for a few more days), Kevin Broom has done an excellent job showing which current or past NBA players like Dinwiddie, Kuzma, Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Aaron Holiday could be like.

Marcus Atkinson also had five of the top questions the Wizards will face in training camp next week. I agree with all of of the questions he laid out, but Hachimura’s absence will be a sixth question into the mix. To this point, Hachimura has been one of the Wizards’ perennial starters along with Bradley Beal.

While this will give players like Kuzma, Harrell and Thomas Bryant (though his return is unlikely until December) more opportunities to play major minutes, Washington also doesn’t have much room to “slack off” with a poor start, something that plagued them last season, regardless of whoever starts at the power forward position this season.

Here’s hoping that Hachimura is okay and that he comes back to Washington soon.
