Face mask orders across the Brazos Valley start Monday - KBTX

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Several cities and counties in the Brazos Valley have mask orders going into effect Monday.

College Station, Bryan, and Hearne, as well as Brazos and Milam counties, have announced mask orders for residents, businesses, and visitors. Below is a breakdown of each location’s order and when it is set to take place.

College Station:

Order Duration: Monday, June 29, at 6:00 a.m. and will end on 11:50 p.m. Friday, July 10.

  • All persons 10 years or older must wear a face covering, according to the CDC guidelines, over their nose and mouth when in a public place where it is difficult to keep six feet away from other people or working in areas that involve close proximity with coworkers.
  • No civil or criminal penalty shall be imposed on individuals for failure to wear a face-covering.
  • Businesses and establishments that violate the order can be fined up to $1,000 per day.

When face coverings are not needed:

  • When exercising outside or engaging in physical activity outside;
  • When driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver;
  • When doing so poses a greater mental or physical health, safety, or security risk;
  • When pumping gas or operating outdoor equipment;
  • While in a building or participating in an activity that requires security surveillance, screening, or identification, for example, banks;
  • When consuming food or drink;
  • When receiving a service where a face covering would impair the service.

Milam County

Order Duration: Monday, June 29, at 12:01 a.m.

  • All persons 10 years or older must wear a face covering.
  • All businesses and commercial entities shall require all employees, visitors, including but not limited to patrons, contractors, volunteers and vendors, to wear face coverings that cover the nose and mouth while on the business’s premises. All businesses and commercial entities shall deny entrance to an individual who refuses to wear a face covering.
  • Businesses and establishments that violate the order can be fined up to $1,000 per day.
  • A business establishment must provide notice to visitors and employees of a Health and Safety policy in a conspicuous location.

When face coverings are not needed:

  • When exercising outside or engaging in physical activity outside;
  • When driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver;
  • When doing so poses a greater mental or physical health, safety, or security risk;
  • When pumping gas or operating outdoor equipment;
  • While in a building or participating in an activity that requires security surveillance, screening, or identification, for example, banks;
  • When consuming food or drink.

Hearne

Order Duration: Monday, June 29, at 6:00 a.m. until further notice.

  • All persons 10 years or older must wear a face covering.
  • All employees and visitors at a business must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth, according to the CDC guidelines, when in an undivided room or area with coworkers or the public while performing an activity that involves or is reasonably likely to involve close proximity of coworkers or the public such that six feet separation is not feasible.
  • No civil or criminal penalty shall be imposed on individuals for failure to wear a face-covering
  • A business establishment must provide notice to visitors and employees of a Health and Safety policy in a conspicuous location.
  • Businesses and establishments that violate the order can be fined up to $1,000 per day.

When face coverings are not needed:

  • When exercising outside or engaging in physical activity outside.
  • When driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver.
  • When doing so poses a greater mental or physical health, safety, or security risk.

  • All persons 10 years or older, including employees, customers, visitors, invitees, and contractors who are out in public and or entering a place of business shall use all reasonable efforts to comply with the Face Covering and Social Distancing Protocols of businesses.
  • Face Coverings may include homemade masks, scarf, bandanas, or a handkerchief.
  • No civil or criminal penalty shall be imposed on individuals for failure to wear a face-covering.
  • At this time, no civil or criminal penalty will be imposed on businesses that do not comply with the order.
  • A business establishment must provide notice to visitors and employees of a Health and Safety policy in a visible location.

When face coverings are not needed:

  • When exercising outside or engaging in physical activity outside;
  • When driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver;
  • When doing so poses a greater mental or physical health, safety, or security risk;
