KALAMAZOO, MI – Police on Tuesday, Dec. 29, arrested a motorist who had a handgun with a loaded high-capacity magazine under his seat.
Kalamazoo police were watching the vehicle because it was slowly trailing a woman who was walking on South Westnedge Avenue near Forest Street.
The officer stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation.
The driver was uncooperative and refused to get out of his vehicle. Police saw an empty holster on his hip. The man resisted when police removed him from the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, police found the gun with the loaded magazine under the driver’s seat.
The suspect, a 21-year-old Kalamazoo man, was jailed on multiple charges, police said.
