BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Five races remain for the All Star Circuit of Champions this year, two being on deck in Central Pennsylvania this weekend.
The series will make its fourth final stop of the year at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday. On Saturday, it’s one of the series’ highest-paying events of the year in the $20,000-to-win Dirt Classic at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.
Williams Grove hosts the $7,000-to-win Jack Gunn Memorial and Dirt Classic qualifier on Friday.
The yearly Gunn tribute race was originally slated in late August, but rain forced series officials to combine the memorial race with the Dirt Classic qualifier. Friday’s winner locks into the marquee event Saturday at Lincoln.
As for the Dirt Classic, the event will utilize a double-heat format and conclude with a 40-lap main event.
Kyle Larson won the race last year. Since he will be at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway continuing his chase for a NASCAR Cup Series title, a new winner will be crowned.
Tyler Courtney is closing on his first All Star Circuit of Champions title in his first full year of winged sprint car racing, commanding a 276-point lead over Cory Eliason.
Hunter Schuerenberg (-414 points), Bill Balog (-540) and Zeb Wise (-560) round out the top five in the standings.
Cap Henry, Justin Peck, Kyle Reinhardt, the injured Paul McMahan and Ian Madsen make up the top 10.
Larson won the only completed series program of the year at Williams Grove in April over Lance Dewease and Freddie Rahmer.
Meanwhile, Eliason topped Parker-Price Miller and Justin Peck in an Aug. 28 series stop at Lincoln.
