The Pac-12 Conference is undefeated so far at the men’s NCAA Tournament, going 5-0 in its games thus far and also advancing Oregon to the second round of the tournament because of COVID-19 positive tests among the VCU Rams that forced a no-contest for their Saturday night game.
No. 11 seed UCLA beat Michigan State 86-80 in overtime in a play-in game Thursday night, and then the Bruins knocked off No. 6 seed BYU of the West Coast Conference 73-62 on Saturday night.
No. 12 seed Oregon State beat fifth-seeded Tennessee 70-56 on Friday to advance to the second round for the first time since 1982.
On Saturday, No. 5 seed Colorado blew out 12th-seeded Georgetown 96-73, and sixth-seeded USC downed No. 11 seed Drake 72-56.
The victories, combined with VCU’s forfeit to No. 7 seed Oregon, give the Pac-12 five teams in the round of 32. Oregon State will face No. seed Oklahoma State on Sunday, while the other four Pac-12 teams will be in action Monday: Oregon vs. No. 2 seed Iowa, Colorado vs. No. 4 seed Florida State, USC vs. No. 3 seed Kansas, and UCLA vs. No. 14 seed Abilene Christian.
As for the other conferences that landed at least four teams into the tournament’s field of 68 teams?
Big 12 teams are 6-1 in the tournament, while the Big Ten is 6-3, the SEC 4-2, the Big East 2-2 and the ACC 2-5.
