A Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly battered a police officer during a traffic stop in Park City and then fled the scene last month.
Korey T. Burgess, 25, of the 10000 block of South Wallace Street in Chicago, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery on a peace officer and one count of fleeing to attempt to elude an officer.
A Park City Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that Burgess was driving on February 22 in Park City, which is near Gurnee, according to a criminal complaint filed in Lake County court.
The complaint said that Burgess caused bodily harm to the officer by grabbing him during the stop.
Burgess got back in his vehicle and drove away from the traffic stop despite being told to stop, the complaint said.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against the man and a judge signed an arrest warrant carrying a $500,000 bond.
Court records show that Burgess was arrested on March 18 and transported to the Lake County Jail.
He remains held on a $500,000 bond and will need to post $50,000 cash in order to be released.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.
