BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Kevin McKosky, whose arrest was first reported by BocaNewsNow.com on Wednesday, allegedly brought a loaded handgun into Boca Raton’s “Whistle Stop Bar” on Tuesday. McKosky exited the bar “with his hands up” as police arrived on the scene. The incident came a day after the mass shooting in Boulder, CO.

From the police report, which you can read in its entirety here:

“I responded to 395 NE 40th Street, the Whistle Stop Bar, City of Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida fo are prot of an individual with a firearm. Upon arrival, I saw a white male, later identified as Kevin McKosky, at the bar at the Whistle Stop. McKosky then exits the bar with his hands in the air. He was identified (by the manger) as the male who was in possession of the firearm.”

Wrote the office: “The manager stated he saw McKosky retrieve the handgun from his car and walk towards the bar with the weapon in his right hand, only concealing it just before walking into the bar.”

Continues the report, “I conducted a frisk of McKosky and located a model Glock 23, .40 Claiber handgun, serial STX277, in the left front waistband of his shorts, concealed from view. The weapon had 12 .40 caliber rounds in the magazine inserted in the weapon and one round in the chamber. I placed McKosky in handcuffs and read him his constitutional warnings. I asked McKosky if he had a permit for his weapon and he stated no. A records check confirmed McKosky does not posses a concealed carry permit.”

McKosky was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.

A judge found probable cause during a hearing on Wednesday and ordered McKosky to stay away from Whistle Stop.

In an email to BocaNewsNow.com requesting that we remove coverage of his gun charge, McKosky wrote: “I’m not sure that you realize that the information that you are publishing potentially puts my family and myself in dangerous life safety situations as their were more details that are not public information at this time., as I was not in possession of an illegal weapon, and I will not say more except that the facts became very very clear to the Presiding Judge and Prosecuting ADA and I was released after a very brief arraignment with no objections from any parties involved with no bail on ROR.”

He also wrote: “These are simple Principles Disciplines and Boundaries that as men, we should govern our Lives and in your case reporting accurate data. Thank you in advance for not inflaming a situation that I was not in any way shape or form instigating, as we have all heard “no good deed goes unpunished “Although we must continue our Morals and not always jump to any conclusions that potentially have enormous impacts to innocent people.”
