Alex Cobb continues strong start to spring - Halos Heaven

Another offseason move that could potentially be a solid move was bringing in starting pitcher Alex Cobb. So far through three starts this spring, the 33-year-old owns a 2.35 ERA and his holding opponents to a .143 average.

On Monday, Cobb threw 3 23 innings, his longest outing of the spring. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out three. When speaking with reporters following his outing, he said that he didn’t feel he had his best stuff today.

“I came into the game feeling not sharp at all,” Cobb said. Stuff didn’t feel like it was coming out too strong. I felt that early in the bullpen. I brought that out in the first inning.”

After issuing two quick outs, Cobb allowed the next three hitters to reach base, giving the Reds an early 1-0 lead. He settled down after that first inning, as he didn’t allow a hit the rest of the way.

“It’s good, because those days happen during the season and you have to find whatever it is to make the adjustment,” Cobb said. “I was able to at least become more aggressive with my pitches, where in the past I shy away from the zone.”
