Stop Asian hate | Rowan Today - Rowan Today

paksijenong.blogspot.com

The recent tragedy in Atlanta that resulted in the deaths of six women of Asian descent has highlighted the need to bring attention to the growing pattern of hate and violence directed toward our Asian American community. Rowan’s leadership team condemns the hate, white supremacy and bigotry that continue to divide our country and we stand in solidarity with our Asian American community in advocating for an end to anti-Asian racism.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been bombarded with xenophobic and inflammatory rhetoric that has resulted in a resurgence of attacks against the Asian American community. We know this hatred is not new. In fact, we can trace the roots of such bigotry, hate and discrimination to the 1850s when Chinese immigrants came to our country in large numbers.

We must do better. There is no place for hate in our society and Rowan University is committed to continuing our efforts to educate, support and advocate for meaningful change to systems that perpetuate inequity.
