REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Former First Lady of Republic of Indonesia, Ani Yudhoyono, was diagnosed with blood cancer. Her husband, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) explained through a video statement that she has been hospitalized in National University Hospital Singapore since February 2.

"Ibu Ani has blood cancer and therefore must undergo intensive treatment and care at the National University Hospital Singapore," said the 6th President of Republic of Indonesia in a video statement received by Republika On Wednesday (Feb 13).

Currently, SBY is still accompanying his wife who underwent medical treatment in Singapore on the recommendation of the Indonesian presidential medical team.

"On behalf of Ibu Ani and our extended family, I request prayers from friends so that Allah SWT heals my beloved wife Ibu Ani, or Kristiani Herawati bint Sarwo Edhie Wibowo. So, Ibu Ani can return carrying out daily activities in the country," said SBY.

The former president said he believes that his wife is a strong, steadfast and tough person in facing life's challenges. Even, when he was still serving as president for 10 years, both of them had felt joy and sorrow together.

"However, me, Ibu Ani and family must be united in the spirit of faith and strength so that all efforts to cure Ibu Ani with God's help can be successful," he hoped.
